Deezer Adds a Toggle to Filter Out AI-Generated Music

Deezer will roll out a toggle by year's end that filters AI-generated tracks from search and recommendations, with no detail yet on how songs get tagged.

Deezer is building an off switch for AI music.

The streaming service says it will add a toggle that lets listeners filter AI-generated tracks out of their recommendations and search results. Deezer plans to ship the feature by the end of 2026. The company has not detailed how it will identify which tracks count as AI-generated, or whether the filter will apply retroactively to its existing catalog. There's also no word on whether the toggle will be on or off by default.

AI-generated songs have been flooding streaming platforms for the past couple of years, and both artists and labels have pushed for ways to separate human work from synthetic filler. A filter only works if Deezer can reliably tag the tracks in the first place, and that's the harder, less flashy problem streaming services have mostly avoided discussing in public.

Other platforms have talked about labeling AI content without actually shipping a way to hide it. Deezer is promising users a real switch, even if the mechanics behind it are still a mystery.
