Coram secures $35M Series B to add AI detective to cameras

Coram AI announced a $35 million Series B round.

The San Francisco startup will use the money to embed autonomous AI into wall‑mounted security cameras. The round was co‑led by Ansa Capital and Battery Ventures, with participation from UP Partners, 8VC and Mosaic Ventures. The investment brings Coram’s total financing to $66 million.

If the cameras can run detection models locally, sites avoid sending video to the cloud and can generate alerts in real time. That reduces latency, bandwidth costs and the attack surface for hackers. It also lets operators treat each camera as a self‑contained investigator rather than a passive sensor.

The move mirrors a broader trend of pushing AI to the edge, though the real‑world performance of such on‑device models remains to be proven.
