Click a field with matching data and a pop-up labeled "Suggested by Gemini" appears. You can accept the suggestion, open a menu to see the original email, or remove the suggestion. Removing it only dismisses it in Chrome. Nothing is deleted from Gmail.

The rollout starts in the U.S., for people with Personal Intelligence enabled, on desktop and in the Android and iOS apps when using Gemini in Chrome. Google began testing enhanced autofill in the summer with data from connected apps such as Google Photos. This version is limited to Gmail.

The practical gain is easy to see. Until now, Chrome autofill covered stable details like contact information and card numbers, things you type once and rarely change. Order numbers and confirmation codes are the opposite: short-lived, buried in an inbox, and the reason people flip between tabs mid-form. Gemini is aimed at that gap.

The cost sits in a different document. Under a recent privacy policy update, connecting Gmail and other Google apps to Personal Intelligence may expose more of your data to ad personalization. Google can now use data from Gmail, Photos and Drive for targeted ads, including data you did not explicitly share in search or with its AI. Google says it does not send personally identifiable information to advertisers or scan Gmail for this data, that sensitive data is encrypted, and that you can switch enhanced suggestions off in Chrome's settings.

So the autofill is a small convenience. The real decision is the Personal Intelligence switch it hangs on, which bundles a helpful feature with a broader data arrangement. The toggle Google describes controls the suggestions. It is not described as changing the ad policy, and that gap is the part worth watching.","["chrome","gemini","privacy","gmail"]","2026-11-02T17:00:00.000Z","2026-11-08T02:17:00.391Z","2026-11-08T02:17:02.872Z","published",null,[],"software",[26,27,28,29],"chrome","gemini","privacy","gmail",[31
Lifehacker","https://lifehacker.com/tech/chrome-will-read-your-gmail-to-autofill-forms?utm_medium=RSS",0
37,42,47,52,57,62,67,72,76,81,86,91,96,101
"AI","ai",7110,"2026-11-08T14:34:09.000Z
"Security","security",1099,"2026-11-08T15:24:01.000Z
"Deals","deals",620,"2026-11-08T08:00:00.000Z
"Policy","policy",604,"2026-11-07T15:48:26.000Z
"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",336,"2026-11-08T21:00:00.000Z
"Hardware","hardware",316,"2026-11-08T14:36:39.000Z
"Science","science",222,"2026-11-07T16:19:17.000Z
"Software",154,"2026-11-08T15:42:52.000Z
"Startups","startups",150,"2026-11-06T16:50:01.000Z
"Dev Tools","dev-tools",125,"2026-11-06T22:15:59.000Z
"General","general",111,"2026-11-08T21:27:29.000Z
"Gaming","gaming",94,"2026-11-08T20:52:05.000Z
"Reviews","reviews",38,"2026-10-20T12:00:00.000Z
"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
