PJM Interconnection, the country's largest power market, has seen electricity prices jump 76 percent partly due to data center demand, and 20 percent of US power generation, roughly 194GW, could be feeding data centers by 2035. China's western provinces have surplus renewable energy that would otherwise go to waste, and the state subsidizes residential power bills, so a data center moving in next door doesn't show up on anyone's electric bill.
