Amazon just dropped the price on Blink's whole-home camera and doorbell bundle to $119.99, down from $419.98, ahead of its October Prime Day sale.
The bundle pairs a Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+ with five Outdoor 2K+ cameras, all running on AA lithium batteries so nothing needs wiring. Each camera records 2K video with color night vision (it drops to black-and-white infrared in low light), carries an IP65 weather rating, and offers 4x zoom. The doorbell shoots a square 1920x1920 image for head-to-toe visitor views and can run wire-free or wire into an existing chime. A Sync Module Core comes in the box to link everything, but it doesn't store footage locally; after a 30-day trial, saving clips means paying for cloud storage starting at $4.99 a month for one camera or $19.99 a month for unlimited devices.
That subscription math is the real story. A $299.99 discount sounds generous, but Blink's business runs on getting you attached to cloud storage once the hardware is practically free. Ring, which Amazon also owns, works the same way, so the underlying incentive (cheap cameras, recurring revenue) isn't going anywhere.
At roughly $20 a camera, it's still a cheap way to cover a property with motion alerts and live view, which work fine without a subscription. Just don't confuse the doorbell discount with the full cost of owning it.
