Best Buy's \"Techtober\" event knocks up to $1,400 off TVs, including a 77-inch LG OLED now at $2,299.99. Walmart's Deals and More sale runs through October 11 with discounts on TVs, computers, and appliances, plus AirPods 4 (without ANC) down to $79. Sony's fall sale cuts up to 50 percent off headphones, speakers, and Bravia TVs, with the WH-1000XM5 headphones dropping to $199.99.\n\nNone of these three retailers need Amazon's permission to run a sale, but timing it to the same week is a tacit admission that Amazon still sets the shopping calendar. For shoppers, that's good news: it means TV and headphone prices are being pressure-tested from four directions at once, not just one.\n\nFour sales events are now competing for the same shopping week: Amazon's own, plus the three retailers racing to ride its coattails.","[\"deals\",\"prime day\",\"best buy\",\"walmart\"]","2026-10-05T15:21:16.000Z","2026-10-06T07:43:05.248Z","2026-10-06T07:43:10.904Z","published",null,[24],{"id":25,"reviewer":26,"round":27,"reason":28,"status":29},"editor-r1","editor",1,"The body opens by calling out 'three retailers' (Best Buy, Walmart, Sony) but closes with 'Four retailers, one shopping season' without ever clarifying that the fourth is Amazon — fix the count so it doesn't read as an internal contradiction.","resolved","deals",[30,32,33,34],"prime day","best buy","walmart",[36],{"name":37,"url":38},"MacRumors","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.macrumors.com\u002F2026\u002F10\u002F05\u002Fprime-day-competitor-sales\u002F",0,{"sections":41},[42,47,52,57,61,66,71,76,81,86,91,96,101,106],{"name":43,"slug":44,"count":45,"latest_published_at":46},"AI","ai",6336,"2026-10-05T19:16:35.000Z",{"name":48,"slug":49,"count":50,"latest_published_at":51},"Security","security",875,"2026-10-05T17:21:11.000Z",{"name":53,"slug":54,"count":55,"latest_published_at":56},"Policy","policy",455,"2026-10-05T18:15:20.000Z",{"name":58,"slug":30,"count":59,"latest_published_at":60},"Deals",353,"2026-10-05T18:35:08.000Z",{"name":62,"slug":63,"count":64,"latest_published_at":65},"Hardware","hardware",209,"2026-10-05T15:55:29.000Z",{"name":67,"slug":68,"count":69,"latest_published_at":70},"Science","science",182,"2026-10-05T18:58:12.000Z",{"name":72,"slug":73,"count":74,"latest_published_at":75},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",161,"2026-10-05T18:18:56.000Z",{"name":77,"slug":78,"count":79,"latest_published_at":80},"Software","software",103,"2026-10-05T18:23:19.000Z",{"name":82,"slug":83,"count":84,"latest_published_at":85},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",99,"2026-10-05T10:47:06.000Z",{"name":87,"slug":88,"count":89,"latest_published_at":90},"Startups","startups",94,"2026-10-05T18:07:07.000Z",{"name":92,"slug":93,"count":94,"latest_published_at":95},"Gaming","gaming",54,"2026-10-05T19:07:04.000Z",{"name":97,"slug":98,"count":99,"latest_published_at":100},"General","general",52,"2026-10-05T17:01:27.000Z",{"name":102,"slug":103,"count":104,"latest_published_at":105},"Reviews","reviews",33,"2026-10-05T11:57:17.000Z",{"name":107,"slug":108,"count":109,"latest_published_at":110},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
