Best Buy Pauses Rival Price Matching Through Cyber Monday

Best Buy's sale runs November 19 to 28, but the retailer will only match its own prices, not rivals', through Cyber Monday.

Best Buy will not match rivals' sale prices from the Thursday before Thanksgiving (November 19) through Cyber Monday (November 30), a window that takes in its Black Friday sale and the Cyber Monday events that follow.

Normally, the retailer matches competitors such as Amazon, Costco, The Home Depot, Target, and Walmart. During the holiday window it will not match any official Black Friday deal elsewhere, or any item on sale elsewhere, whether or not it is labeled a Black Friday deal. If a rival undercuts something you already bought, you would have to return it and buy it again.

Best Buy's own prices are still covered. Buy something before December 31, and if the price drops later, the company will refund the difference. Requests can be made online or in stores. Holiday decorations, phones and other activatable devices bought under a third-party contract, non-returnable items such as trading cards, gift cards, and e-bikes, and anything from Marketplace Sellers are excluded.

The schedule has several parts. Early Black Friday Deals and Doorbusters go live on November 6 and 13. The main sale runs November 19 to 28, and paid My Best Buy Plus and Total members earn double points from November 19 to December 6. Items with the Black Friday Deal badge come in limited quantities with no rainchecks, and the company's FAQ says sold-out items may stay sold out through Black Friday. Stores are closed on Thanksgiving, November 26, as they have been since 2020. Store hours for Black Friday are not yet announced; last year the doors opened at 6 a.m. Most deals will also be online, with a small handful reserved for physical stores.

Our read, not the company's: the guarantee protects you from Best Buy's own markdowns, not from competition, so it rewards buying early and checking rivals before you commit. That matters more this year because memory-chip price hikes have made many popular tech gifts more expensive than usual.

Purchases can generally be returned until January 15, 2027, or January 31 for Plus and Total members. Three more events follow Black Friday: a Cyber Sunday and Monday Sale Event on November 29 and 30, Cyber Week Deals from December 1 to 6, and a Last-Minute Savings Event from December 18 to 24.
