Preordering one of the first Android-powered laptops now comes with a free pair of wireless earbuds thrown in.
Best Buy is giving away a pair of Pixel Buds 2A in hazel to anyone who preorders a Googlebook, the new category of Android laptops built by familiar PC brands. The promotion runs through October 25th, 2026, and covers models from Acer, Lenovo, Asus, HP, and Dell, all listed on a dedicated Googlebook page at the retailer. Some units start shipping as early as October 5th, 2026. The cheapest option, the Acer Googlebook 14, starts at $899 and comes with an Intel Core 5 Ultra chip, 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, and 512GB of storage.
Googlebooks are Google's attempt to carve out a laptop category distinct from Chromebooks, aimed squarely at Windows Copilot+ machines on specs and price. Sweetening the preorder with free earbuds is a familiar first-generation-hardware move: cheap enough for Best Buy to absorb, but useful enough to nudge undecided shoppers into buying before independent reviews pile up. Launch-day bundling like this also signals how much retail muscle is going into pushing the new category out the door.
Free earbuds are a nice touch, but they don't answer the actual question: whether Android holds up as a full-time laptop operating system. That verdict comes from using the thing, not from what's in the box.
