Atlassian and OpenAI are expanding their partnership to turn enterprise knowledge into action, not just answers.
The expanded deal connects OpenAI's frontier models more directly to the knowledge already sitting inside Atlassian's tools - the tickets, project plans, and documentation teams generate every day. The companies say the goal is to help teams plan, build, and deliver work, rather than just surface information for someone to read. Neither company detailed which products get the new integrations, a rollout timeline, or whether financial terms changed. The announcement is heavier on direction than specifics.
That direction matters more than the headline. Atlassian already has its own AI assistant, Rovo, and relationships with multiple model providers, so leaning further into OpenAI specifically signals which partner it trusts to move AI from answering questions to doing the work itself. It's the same shift Microsoft chased by wiring OpenAI's models through Office - the enterprise AI fight has moved from best chatbot to whose AI can actually touch your backlog.
Until Atlassian ships something concrete, this is a statement of intent, not a product.
