A designer who goes by NightHawk11991 has published free instructions on Rebrickable for an 810-brick, fan-modified version of ASML's employee-only Lego model of its High-NA EUV machine, a chip-making tool that prints circuits onto silicon wafers.
ASML launched the original TWINSCAN EXE:5000 kit in December 2024 and sells it only to employees. The company canceled orders from non-employees, and eBay Buy It Now listings now run $500 to $700, against the $230 ASML asks in its store.
The replica is not a copy. NightHawk11991 wrote that a friend asked for a recreation, and that the design draws on photos the friend took of the actual equipment. It adds interior details, including vacuum pumps, a laser emitter and reflectors, plus a wafer tray that slides out. The build needs 152 unique parts. PDF instructions are free.
The model's designer and the person who built it are different people. The builder is X user @lithos_graphein, who posted the result on October 11 and wrote that many of the bricks are hard to source, so "I made my own version." The same collector said the build took about a week. That collector also once traded an official ASML Lego kit for a rare 2007 ASML Special Edition Monopoly board.
This fits a familiar pattern. Company-commissioned merchandise usually goes to employees, and outsiders get it only through a relative on the inside or a reseller. TSMC and SK hynix have sold similar merch, and resellers have listed some of it for as much as $16,700.
The open instructions swap one scarcity for another. The set itself is locked away, but the rarer bricks in the parts list may be just as hard to find, as the builder noted. Whether that changes anything for the original kit's resale price is not something the source addresses.
