Amazon's October Prime Day Apple deals are live, and most of them are modest.
Amazon knocked $100 off the 15-inch MacBook Air with Apple's M5 chip, bringing the 512GB model to $1,399 (its best price since early August, per price-tracking site Keepa). Best Buy is cutting the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Max chip by $600, down to $3,499. Smaller discounts hit the 11-inch iPad Pro ($60 off, to $1,139), the previous-generation USB-C AirPods Max ($120 off, to $429), and the Apple Watch Ultra 3, now $699.97 after Apple recently launched the Ultra 4. AirPods Pro 3 only dropped $15, to $234.
The pattern says more about Apple's own pricing moves than Prime Day's generosity. That MacBook Air discount mostly cancels out a recent price increase from Apple, rather than representing a genuinely new low. And the steepest percentage cuts are landing on outgoing hardware, like the old AirPods Max and the previous Watch Ultra, that retailers need to clear before newer models take over shelf space.
If past Amazon sales are a guide, this is the opening bid, not the final price, so it's worth checking back before buying anything that isn't last-gen clearance stock.
