Right now the base config, with 256GB of storage, 16GB of RAM, and a 12-core CPU and GPU, is down to $779.99 at Amazon as part of this month's Prime Day deals. It's the first price cut this model has seen since launch. Apple says the M6 runs about 20 percent faster than the outgoing M4, though the hardware design itself hasn't changed.\n\nThe more interesting number here isn't the discount, it's the baseline. Apple quietly raised the Mini's starting price by $300 this generation, and a 20 percent speed bump doesn't really justify that on its own. Best Buy is currently selling a restocked M4 Mini, with the same storage but a less capable chip, for $799 - just $19 more than this discounted M6. That's not a coincidence worth celebrating.\n\nIf you need the extra horsepower, the M6 at $779.99 is a fine buy. If you don't, the math on this \"deal\" mostly just reveals how much room Apple built into the sticker price to begin with.","[\"mac mini\",\"apple\",\"m6 chip\",\"deals\"]","2026-10-05T15:08:31.000Z","2026-10-06T07:06:15.494Z","2026-10-06T07:06:21.121Z","published",null,[],"deals",[26,27,28,24],"mac mini","apple","m6 chip",[30],{"name":31,"url":32},"The Verge","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.theverge.com\u002Fgadgets\u002F1004772\u002Fapple-mac-mini-m6-deal-october-prime-day-deal-sale",0,{"sections":35},[36,41,46,51,55,60,65,70,75,80,85,90,95,100],{"name":37,"slug":38,"count":39,"latest_published_at":40},"AI","ai",6335,"2026-10-05T18:29:00.000Z",{"name":42,"slug":43,"count":44,"latest_published_at":45},"Security","security",875,"2026-10-05T17:21:11.000Z",{"name":47,"slug":48,"count":49,"latest_published_at":50},"Policy","policy",455,"2026-10-05T18:15:20.000Z",{"name":52,"slug":24,"count":53,"latest_published_at":54},"Deals",353,"2026-10-05T18:35:08.000Z",{"name":56,"slug":57,"count":58,"latest_published_at":59},"Hardware","hardware",209,"2026-10-05T15:55:29.000Z",{"name":61,"slug":62,"count":63,"latest_published_at":64},"Science","science",182,"2026-10-05T18:58:12.000Z",{"name":66,"slug":67,"count":68,"latest_published_at":69},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",161,"2026-10-05T18:18:56.000Z",{"name":71,"slug":72,"count":73,"latest_published_at":74},"Software","software",103,"2026-10-05T18:23:19.000Z",{"name":76,"slug":77,"count":78,"latest_published_at":79},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",99,"2026-10-05T10:47:06.000Z",{"name":81,"slug":82,"count":83,"latest_published_at":84},"Startups","startups",94,"2026-10-05T18:07:07.000Z",{"name":86,"slug":87,"count":88,"latest_published_at":89},"Gaming","gaming",54,"2026-10-05T19:07:04.000Z",{"name":91,"slug":92,"count":93,"latest_published_at":94},"General","general",52,"2026-10-05T17:01:27.000Z",{"name":96,"slug":97,"count":98,"latest_published_at":99},"Reviews","reviews",33,"2026-10-05T11:57:17.000Z",{"name":101,"slug":102,"count":103,"latest_published_at":104},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
