Apple closed out summer by announcing a dozen new products in under a month.
The run started August 25 with a redesigned Mac mini (M6 and M5 Pro chips), a new Mac Studio (M5 Max and M5 Ultra), and an updated Polishing Cloth. September brought the bulk of the news: iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, a foldable iPhone Duo, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5, and the redesigned Beats 360 headphones. Apple rounded out the count with two accessories, a new Wrist Strap and an updated Watch magnetic charging cable. That is twelve announcements, and it does not even include the new iPhone cases, Watch bands, and revised U.S. Magic Keyboards with etched glyphs that Apple also quietly rolled out this month.
Apple used to space out hardware launches across the year so each one kept its own spotlight. Compressing a Mac refresh, three device families, and a foldable phone into four weeks looks like a company clearing its pipeline before the holiday quarter, not one confident every product can carry its own headline. A foldable iPhone landing in the same news cycle as a polishing cloth update says something about how Apple triages its own announcements these days.
Twelve products in a month is a lot of hardware to remember, and that might be the point: nobody scrutinizes the ninth announcement as hard as the first.
