Accidental damage to either model costs $39 to fix if the device is covered under AppleCare+. Skip the extended warranty and that same repair - cracked screen, dead speaker, doesn't matter - costs $279. Apple did not break the fees down by damage type; both models and apparently every kind of damage fall under the same flat rate.\n\nThe flat fee says something about how Apple expects people to use HomeView: as a fixed object bolted to a wall or counter, not a pocketable gadget prone to small scrapes. It also makes the AppleCare+ math blunt - pay $39 once something breaks, or risk a bill more than seven times as large.\n\nApple hasn't said what AppleCare+ costs upfront for HomeView, so it's hard to judge yet whether the coverage is a genuine deal or just a hedge against a no-coverage price Apple set high on purpose.","[\"apple\",\"homeview\",\"applecare\",\"repair-fees\"]","2026-10-14T00:44:32.000Z","2026-10-14T01:35:46.148Z","2026-10-14T01:35:48.584Z","published",null,[24],{"id":25,"reviewer":26,"round":27,"reason":28,"status":29},"editor-r1","editor",1,"Source or remove the unsourced comparisons claiming the $279 fee sits in 'iPad territory' versus 'HomePod territory' and that Apple applies flat-fee repairs to iPhone\u002FiPad screens, since no actual repair prices for those products are given or verified anywhere in the piece.","resolved","consumer-tech",[32,33,34,35],"apple","homeview","applecare","repair-fees",[37],{"name":38,"url":39},"MacRumors","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.macrumors.com\u002F2026\u002F10\u002F13\u002Fapple-homeview-repair-fees\u002F",0,{"sections":42},[43,48,53,58,63,68,71,76,81,86,91,96,101,106],{"name":44,"slug":45,"count":46,"latest_published_at":47},"AI","ai",6990,"2026-10-13T20:09:54.000Z",{"name":49,"slug":50,"count":51,"latest_published_at":52},"Security","security",978,"2026-10-14T02:00:14.000Z",{"name":54,"slug":55,"count":56,"latest_published_at":57},"Policy","policy",505,"2026-10-13T22:48:12.000Z",{"name":59,"slug":60,"count":61,"latest_published_at":62},"Deals","deals",501,"2026-10-13T22:00:00.000Z",{"name":64,"slug":65,"count":66,"latest_published_at":67},"Hardware","hardware",252,"2026-10-14T00:42:28.000Z",{"name":69,"slug":30,"count":70,"latest_published_at":18},"Consumer Tech",213,{"name":72,"slug":73,"count":74,"latest_published_at":75},"Science","science",201,"2026-10-13T23:13:31.000Z",{"name":77,"slug":78,"count":79,"latest_published_at":80},"Startups","startups",132,"2026-10-13T21:15:00.000Z",{"name":82,"slug":83,"count":84,"latest_published_at":85},"Software","software",123,"2026-10-13T21:33:43.000Z",{"name":87,"slug":88,"count":89,"latest_published_at":90},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",116,"2026-10-13T16:20:18.000Z",{"name":92,"slug":93,"count":94,"latest_published_at":95},"General","general",77,"2026-10-13T22:42:18.000Z",{"name":97,"slug":98,"count":99,"latest_published_at":100},"Gaming","gaming",65,"2026-10-13T19:00:48.000Z",{"name":102,"slug":103,"count":104,"latest_published_at":105},"Reviews","reviews",36,"2026-10-13T18:00:00.000Z",{"name":107,"slug":108,"count":109,"latest_published_at":110},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
