The headline items are redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED touchscreens, a Dynamic Island, M5 Pro and M5 Max chip options, and a lighter chassis that may add built-in cellular through Apple's own modem. Separately, Apple plans to refresh the 24-inch iMac with an M6 chip and new colors, and to bump a lower-tier 14-inch MacBook Pro to an M6 chip without the OLED redesign. A new iPad mini is also expected, gaining an OLED screen, an A20 Pro chip, a landscape-facing camera, and a water-resistant design.

Splitting the MacBook Pro line into a premium OLED tier and a plain M6 holdover suggests Apple is managing component costs and supply rather than giving every model the same flagship spec sheet. It also means Apple's biggest Mac redesign in years is debuting at an event with no keynote, no live stream, and no immediate broad press coverage.

Gurman says this will likely be Apple's last major launch of 2026, which makes a no-keynote, creators-only rollout an odd way to close out the year's biggest Mac overhaul.","["apple","macbook pro","ipad mini","imac"]","2026-10-12T16:49:04.000Z","2026-10-12T17:49:05.108Z","2026-10-12T17:49:10.894Z","published",null,[24,30,34
"editor-r1","editor",1,"The dek's framing that the LA event comes 'days after' the New York reveal is misleading — Oct 13 to Oct 27 is a two-week gap, not days — so rewrite the dek to state the actual interval accurately.","resolved
"editor-r2",2,"Today's date is October 12, but the piece treats the October 13 New York event as already having happened ('unveiled at the October 13 New York event') — fix the tense so the draft doesn't claim a future event already occurred.
"publisher-r3","publisher",3,"The body describes two conflicting 14-inch MacBook Pro models at the same event—one redesigned with M5 Pro/M5 Max chips and a separate 'M6 14-inch MacBook Pro'—which is an internal factual inconsistency that needs correction before publishing.","hardware",[41,42,43,44],"apple","macbook pro","ipad mini","imac",[46
MacRumors","https://www.macrumors.com/2026/10/12/new-macs-and-ipad-mini-in-los-angeles/",0
52,57,62,67,72,76,81,86,91,96,101,106,111,116
"AI","ai",6973,"2026-10-12T20:13:28.000Z
"Security","security",959,"2026-10-12T16:15:20.000Z
"Policy","policy",500,"2026-10-12T18:34:57.000Z
"Deals","deals",492,"2026-10-12T14:55:53.000Z
"Hardware",242,"2026-10-12T19:48:14.000Z
"Science","science",196,"2026-10-11T15:34:40.000Z
"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",192,"2026-10-12T14:07:13.000Z
"Startups","startups",122,"2026-10-12T17:19:14.000Z
"Software","software",116,"2026-10-12T19:00:00.000Z
"Dev Tools","dev-tools",112,"2026-10-12T18:29:04.000Z
"General","general",71,"2026-10-12T16:10:40.000Z
"Gaming","gaming",62,"2026-10-12T19:05:44.000Z
"Reviews","reviews",35,"2026-10-12T14:00:00.000Z
"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
