Apple has named more than 50 third-party apps that are, or soon will be, fully optimized for the iPhone Duo and the different ways it can be held, folded, and propped up.
The examples lean on the device's two displays. Netflix lets users scroll a feed of short, vertical clips on the outer display, then open the phone to keep watching on the inner one. Netflix and Prime Video were shown in a "seated" pose, the phone resting partly folded on a surface. The MLB app recently added support and now spreads live games, scores, and stats across the full width of the inner display. Zoom shows shared content and all participants at once, and Slack and Lyft also use the larger inner screen.
Not everything is ready. Apple said Word and Outlook will get a "desktop-class experience" in the coming weeks, with Word's formatting tools beside the document and Outlook's inbox next to an open message. The longer list includes Flighty, Fantastical, Things, Bear, Instagram, DoorDash, Yelp, United Airlines, and American Airlines.
The fine print matters more than the showcase. Every existing iPhone app can run on the iPhone Duo, but how it looks depends on whether it was built with the iOS 26, iOS 27, or iOS 27.1 SDK. That is the software development kit, the toolset Apple gives developers to build for its hardware.
This is the usual problem for a new form factor: a screen shape is only useful once apps are designed for it. Android foldables spent years with apps that simply stretched to fit. Apple's list is a curated pick from the company itself, so it shows the best case, not the typical one. The open question is how the apps outside those 50 will look on the inner display, especially the ones built on the oldest SDK.
