- Apple added support for the Poke AI service to iMessage on June 4, 2026.
Apple announced that the integration appears as a new button in the app’s compose bar. Tapping it opens a chat window powered by Poke, letting users generate replies or ask questions without leaving Messages. The feature is part of iOS 18 beta 5 and rolls out to devices running the public iOS 18 release later this month.
Apple says the addition gives users “instant, on‑device assistance” while keeping data within the Messages ecosystem. For developers, Poke is the first external AI provider cleared for the platform, meaning future services could follow the same path.
The rollout starts with a limited pool of users; Apple will expand it after monitoring performance and any misuse. Until then, the AI can be invoked only in one‑to‑one chats and is capped at 20 generated responses per conversation.
