Amazon is knocking a little money off select iPads ahead of its October Prime Day event.
Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6-7, but Amazon has already dropped prices on a handful of iPad models. The iPad Air 11-inch (M4, 128GB, WiFi) is down to $649 from $749, a $100 cut. The base iPad (A16, 128GB, WiFi) falls to $399 from $449, and the iPad Pro 11-inch (M5, 256GB, WiFi) is $1,139 instead of $1,199. Larger sizes get similar treatment: the 13-inch iPad Air drops $100 to $849, and the 13-inch iPad Pro falls $75 to $1,424.
Apple raised prices across its iPad lineup over the past year, so these discounts mostly restore older pricing rather than beating any past low. For anyone who held off buying after the hikes, this is the first real chance to pay something close to what an iPad used to cost.
Treat these as a preview, not the main event - the real test of Amazon's discounting comes when Prime Big Deal Days actually starts on October 6.
