There is no App Store, so that list is the whole menu. The specs page also notes that HomeView can display certain CarPlay-enabled audio and video apps streamed from a paired iPhone. Apple names four of its own apps that work this way: Apple Music Classical, Apple News, Apple TV, and Audiobooks. WIRED reports that third-party apps, including Spotify, work too, and the latest Apple Developer Program agreement confirms that some CarPlay apps and widgets are now built to run on HomeView.\n\nA HomeView without an App Store looked like a closed box. Routing CarPlay apps onto it is a workaround that stretches an existing platform instead of building a new one from scratch. It also means a smart display's feature set can grow or shrink based on what happens to CarPlay, a platform Apple already treats as a second-class citizen compared to iOS.\n\nCall it App Store absence by other means: borrow the car's software, skip the storefront.","[\"apple\",\"homeview\",\"carplay\",\"smart-home\"]","2026-10-14T16:03:09.000Z","2026-10-14T17:15:08.588Z","2026-10-14T17:15:12.226Z","published",null,[24],{"id":25,"reviewer":26,"round":27,"reason":28,"status":29},"publisher-r1","publisher",1,"The sentence listing borrowed CarPlay apps is grammatically broken — 'including Apple Music Classical, Apple News, Apple TV, Audiobooks, and WIRED reports third-party options like Spotify also work this way' reads as an unfixed editing merge, not a finished sentence.","resolved","hardware",[32,33,34,35],"apple","homeview","carplay","smart-home",[37],{"name":38,"url":39},"MacRumors","https:\u002F\u002Fwww.macrumors.com\u002F2026\u002F10\u002F14\u002Fapple-homeview-apps-carplay\u002F",0,{"sections":42},[43,48,53,58,62,65,70,75,80,85,90,95,100,105],{"name":44,"slug":45,"count":46,"latest_published_at":47},"AI","ai",7006,"2026-10-14T16:43:24.000Z",{"name":49,"slug":50,"count":51,"latest_published_at":52},"Security","security",989,"2026-10-14T16:47:39.000Z",{"name":54,"slug":55,"count":56,"latest_published_at":57},"Deals","deals",512,"2026-10-14T17:24:42.000Z",{"name":59,"slug":60,"count":56,"latest_published_at":61},"Policy","policy","2026-10-14T16:24:11.000Z",{"name":63,"slug":30,"count":64,"latest_published_at":18},"Hardware",256,{"name":66,"slug":67,"count":68,"latest_published_at":69},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",223,"2026-10-14T17:33:16.000Z",{"name":71,"slug":72,"count":73,"latest_published_at":74},"Science","science",201,"2026-10-13T23:13:31.000Z",{"name":76,"slug":77,"count":78,"latest_published_at":79},"Startups","startups",132,"2026-10-13T21:15:00.000Z",{"name":81,"slug":82,"count":83,"latest_published_at":84},"Software","software",124,"2026-10-14T14:00:10.000Z",{"name":86,"slug":87,"count":88,"latest_published_at":89},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",116,"2026-10-13T16:20:18.000Z",{"name":91,"slug":92,"count":93,"latest_published_at":94},"General","general",78,"2026-10-14T14:55:47.000Z",{"name":96,"slug":97,"count":98,"latest_published_at":99},"Gaming","gaming",73,"2026-10-14T16:16:46.000Z",{"name":101,"slug":102,"count":103,"latest_published_at":104},"Reviews","reviews",37,"2026-10-14T10:00:00.000Z",{"name":106,"slug":107,"count":108,"latest_published_at":109},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
