Apple defends its Supreme Court appeal as Epic tries to toss case

Apple’s 12‑page filing argues the dispute with Epic over app distribution still merits Supreme Court review.

Apple defends its Supreme Court appeal as Epic tries to toss case

Apple filed a brief to keep its Supreme Court appeal alive against Epic Games.

On June 4, Epic asked the Court to dismiss the case. Apple responded with a 12‑page filing that attacks each of Epic’s points and says the issues remain worthy of review. The filing follows Epic’s 35‑page request and reiterates Apple’s stance that the dispute over its App Store rules still needs a legal ruling. Apple’s lawyers say the appeal “confirms the need for review.”

The appeal could set precedent for how platform owners control third‑party software. A decision one way or the other will affect revenue streams for both companies and could influence other app marketplaces. Stakeholders are watching because the case has lingered for years without resolution.

Until the Court weighs in, the rivalry remains a legal tennis match rather than a tech breakthrough.
