Apple rolled out AI‑powered video summaries for HomeKit Secure Video cameras.
At WWDC the company said iOS 27 will let HomeKit cameras analyze footage with Apple Intelligence and generate short text descriptions of what they saw. Users can also type natural‑language queries, like “package delivered,” to pull matching clips from any connected camera. The Home app will stitch related clips together and surface a handful of “noteworthy clips” on the search page.
The feature moves Apple’s smart‑home ecosystem beyond simple motion alerts, giving homeowners a searchable archive of daily events. It also narrows the gap with competing platforms that already offer AI video indexing.
Expect the AI to be optional and to run on‑device, keeping footage out of the cloud—but the promise of searchable home video remains a modest convenience, not a privacy breakthrough.
