Anthropic released Claude Fable 5 on Tuesday, the first public offering built on the architecture behind its restricted Mythos system.
Enterprise customers and paid subscribers can now access Mythos-class intelligence, with caveats. The rollout ships with new guardrails that refuse responses in cybersecurity, biology, chemistry, and other sensitive domains Anthropic has not fully enumerated. Those restrictions appear baked in rather than configurable. The launch arrives days before a potential record IPO for the company.
Mythos was, until now, something ordinary customers couldn't touch. Bringing that architecture to a commercial product compresses the gap between Anthropic's restricted tier and what the market gets. It also gives investors a proof point heading into an IPO: the most capable version of Claude that Anthropic will show publicly is now generating enterprise subscription revenue. The timing may be coincidence, but it doesn't read like one.
Whether "Mythos-class" describes the same model that stays behind closed doors, or a tuned-down variant dressed for the occasion, is a question Anthropic hasn't answered.
