Android 15 will warn users when an incoming call appears to impersonate someone in their contacts. The feature rolls out with the July 2026 Android 15 update and will appear as a banner that reads “Possible impersonation” above the call screen. Google says the warning is based on analyzing the caller’s number and name against the user’s address book.
The alert gives users a moment to verify the caller before answering, aiming to cut down on scams that rely on name spoofing. It works on Pixel phones and other Android 15 devices that receive the update.
Google is also rolling out AI‑powered updates to Photos and Play Books at the same time, but those additions are unrelated to the new call‑screen warning.
