A 2024 Surface Laptop 7 (Snapdragon X Elite, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) fell 36% to $1,349, its lowest price since May. A loaded 14-inch MacBook Pro (M5 Pro, 24GB RAM, 2TB SSD) dropped $500 to $2,699. Those prices were specific to Amazon's sale window, which closed October 7, so anyone checking those same listings today should expect regular pricing to have returned.\n\nThat timing matters because laptop prices have risen anywhere from $100 to $950 this year amid an ongoing memory crisis, making any sale that reverses those hikes unusually significant rather than routine. The good news for latecomers: Best Buy and Walmart are running their own, separately scheduled sales this week, and deals like a $599.99 Dell XPS 13 or a $1,399.99 HP OmniBook Ultra 14 at Best Buy were never tied to Amazon's midnight cutoff.\n\nA sale with a deadline isn't automatically a better deal than one without, it's just louder. Before assuming Amazon's expired event was the best game in town, it's worth checking what Best Buy and Walmart still have running.","[\"laptop-deals\",\"prime-day\",\"amazon\",\"best-buy\"]","2026-10-07T18:47:17.000Z","2026-10-08T09:28:51.952Z","2026-10-08T09:28:55.646Z","published",null,[24,30,34],{"id":25,"reviewer":26,"round":27,"reason":28,"status":29},"editor-r1","editor",1,"The closing line claims Prime Big Deal Days 'ends at midnight Pacific tonight,' but per the source that refers to Oct. 7 — today is 2026-10-08, so the sale has already ended; remove or correct this time-sensitive framing instead of running it as still-live urgency.","resolved",{"id":31,"reviewer":26,"round":32,"reason":33,"status":29},"editor-r2",2,"The headline and dek claim MacBook Air and Surface Laptop discounts are 'still showing at Best Buy and Walmart,' but the body only ties a Best Buy price (Dell XPS 13) to that claim — the MacBook Air and Surface Laptop deals described are Amazon-only, so either source Best Buy\u002FWalmart pricing for those two specific products or narrow the headline\u002Fdek to match what the body actually establishes.",{"id":35,"reviewer":26,"round":36,"reason":37,"status":29},"editor-r3",3,"The draft says the Prime Day sale 'closes out tonight' and 'ends at midnight Pacific tonight,' but per the source that deadline was Oct. 7 — today is Oct. 8, so the sale has already ended; rewrite the framing to reflect that the sale is over and clarify which discounts (if any) are still live now.","deals",[40,41,42,43],"laptop-deals","prime-day","amazon","best-buy",[45],{"name":46,"url":47},"Mashable","https:\u002F\u002Fmashable.com\u002Ftech\u002Fbest-october-prime-day-laptop-deals-live-2026",0,{"sections":50},[51,56,61,66,70,75,80,85,90,95,100,105,110,115],{"name":52,"slug":53,"count":54,"latest_published_at":55},"AI","ai",6370,"2026-10-07T14:12:37.000Z",{"name":57,"slug":58,"count":59,"latest_published_at":60},"Security","security",897,"2026-10-07T19:53:42.000Z",{"name":62,"slug":63,"count":64,"latest_published_at":65},"Policy","policy",470,"2026-10-06T19:55:11.000Z",{"name":67,"slug":38,"count":68,"latest_published_at":69},"Deals",449,"2026-10-07T23:01:39.000Z",{"name":71,"slug":72,"count":73,"latest_published_at":74},"Hardware","hardware",220,"2026-10-07T19:59:32.000Z",{"name":76,"slug":77,"count":78,"latest_published_at":79},"Science","science",186,"2026-10-06T21:20:39.000Z",{"name":81,"slug":82,"count":83,"latest_published_at":84},"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",173,"2026-10-07T17:41:41.000Z",{"name":86,"slug":87,"count":88,"latest_published_at":89},"Software","software",111,"2026-10-07T17:47:14.000Z",{"name":91,"slug":92,"count":93,"latest_published_at":94},"Startups","startups",106,"2026-10-06T20:00:30.000Z",{"name":96,"slug":97,"count":98,"latest_published_at":99},"Dev Tools","dev-tools",105,"2026-10-07T16:59:11.000Z",{"name":101,"slug":102,"count":103,"latest_published_at":104},"General","general",59,"2026-10-07T21:16:18.000Z",{"name":106,"slug":107,"count":108,"latest_published_at":109},"Gaming","gaming",56,"2026-10-07T12:00:00.000Z",{"name":111,"slug":112,"count":113,"latest_published_at":114},"Reviews","reviews",33,"2026-10-05T11:57:17.000Z",{"name":116,"slug":117,"count":118,"latest_published_at":119},"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
