Amazon's October Prime Day sale is live with early discounts on its own hardware, and most of the savings just restore prices to where they sat before Amazon's own August price hike.
Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6-7, but device deals are already rolling out. The Fire HD 10 tablet is down to $72.99 from $154.99, a 53% cut. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select drops to $17.99 with a promo code, and a Blink Outdoor 2K+ camera bundled with a free Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+ runs $34.99, nearly 80% off the combined list price. The Eero Pro 7 mesh router is $30 cheaper at $269.99. Kindles and Echo devices, the two product lines Amazon raised prices on the hardest in August, haven't seen matching cuts yet.
The timing is the real story here. Amazon quietly raised prices across its device lineup by as much as 60% in August, then is now rolling some of that back for its own sale two months later. That's less a discount than a round trip, list price inflated ahead of a doorbuster, except Amazon controls both the shelf and the sticker.
Worth remembering: this is just the preview, and Amazon still has two weeks before October 6 to decide whether Kindles and Echoes get the same treatment.
