Amazon is dangling early gaming discounts a week and a half ahead of its October 6-7 Prime Day sale, and a handful of them are real markdowns rather than the usual padding.
The highlights: Starfield's PS5 Standard Edition drops to $29.99 from $49.99 with an on-page coupon, its lowest price yet on Amazon. A 32-inch Samsung Odyssey G5 QHD gaming monitor falls to $199.99, a $150 cut from $349.99, and still ships with a height-adjustable stand. The HyperX Cloud II headset is $49.99, $30 off. On the peripherals side, Razer's Basilisk V3 wired mouse drops to $34.98 from $69.99 - essentially half price - while the BlackWidow V4 X mechanical keyboard is $99.99 from $129.99, a $30 cut that works out to about 23% off. Standard PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch consoles are still full price.
That keyboard number is the tell here. Retailers like to bundle a handful of genuinely steep discounts with more ordinary ones and let the strongest deal set the tone for the whole list. The Basilisk V3 is a legitimate half-off bargain; the BlackWidow V4 X is a routine 23% markdown wearing the same "Prime Day" label.
If you can wait, actual Prime Day on October 6-7 could push at least some of these lower - early sales like this one are usually a preview, not the floor.
