Amazon plans to funnel that imagery into an internal AI system called Wellspring. Asked whether customers could opt out of being photographed, Amazon's Viraj Chatterjee told Bloomberg, "We haven't thought about that." Chatterjee said the goal is only to "enhance the delivery process," not to monitor people.

That answer matters because the cameras do not just watch Amazon's own drivers, they watch everyone a delivery truck passes. Thousands of routes times several thousand frames a shift adds up to a sprawling, constantly refreshed photo archive of ordinary front yards and the people in them. Nobody pictured in those frames signed up for anything.

"We haven't thought about that" is a strange thing to hear from a company built on tracking packages down to the minute. If Amazon can calculate a delivery window to the second, it can figure out who gets photographed on their own doorstep.","["amazon","privacy","smart-glasses","surveillance"]","2026-09-30T17:21:29.000Z","2026-10-01T03:44:45.572Z","2026-10-01T03:44:51.569Z","published",null,[24
"editor-r1","editor",1,"The dek claims there is 'no clear limit on what gets kept,' but neither the body nor the source material addresses data retention at all — either add sourced detail on retention/storage policy to the body or remove that claim from the dek.","resolved","ai",[32,33,34,35],"amazon","privacy","smart-glasses","surveillance",[37,40
The Verge","https://www.theverge.com/tech/1002766/amazon-delivery-driver-smart-glasses-privacy
The Next Web","https://thenextweb.com/news/amazon-smart-glasses-delivery-drivers-photos-no-opt-out",0
46,50,55,60,65,70,75,80,85,89,94,99,104,109
"AI",5236,"2026-09-30T20:13:50.000Z
"Security","security",799,"2026-09-30T19:29:08.000Z
"Policy","policy",427,"2026-09-30T20:36:54.000Z
"Deals","deals",298,"2026-09-30T21:00:26.000Z
"Hardware","hardware",196,"2026-09-30T13:00:00.000Z
"Science","science",157,"2026-09-30T15:00:56.000Z
"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",148,"2026-09-30T17:53:35.000Z
"Dev Tools","dev-tools",92,"2026-09-30T18:17:45.000Z
"Software","software","2026-09-30T17:45:00.000Z
"Startups","startups",83,"2026-09-29T21:51:36.000Z
"Gaming","gaming",50,"2026-09-30T16:24:30.000Z
"General","general",49,"2026-09-28T16:44:57.000Z
"Reviews","reviews",31,"2026-09-28T14:31:34.000Z
"How-To","how-to",6,"2026-06-16T09:00:00.000Z"]
