The deals roundup that flagged it called it the biggest discount yet on one model of the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Best Buy has a matching price in both color options, and the roundup said MacBook Pro deals have been getting steeper over the past few weeks.

The Best Buy match is the detail worth noting. Apple tends to hold its own list prices steady on current Macs, so cuts like this come from retailers. When two big ones land on the same number, it points to a broader price move rather than a one-store promotion. The roundup also framed the timing around the run-up to the holidays, when discounting usually picks up.

The caveats are practical. The $900 applies to a single configuration: 36GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. Buyers who want different specs will be looking at different prices, and the source does not say how far those have fallen. At $3,499, this is still a laptop priced for people who know why they need the extra memory and storage.

The cuts are not confined to laptops, either. The source said many of the Mac mini and Mac Studio deals remain live, so shoppers eyeing a desktop have bargains to compare before settling on the MacBook Pro.","["apple","macbook-pro","deals","m5-max"]","2026-10-19T13:09:59.000Z","2026-10-19T14:01:51.462Z","2026-10-19T14:01:53.736Z","published",null,[24,30
"editor-r1","editor",1,"Remove the unsupported claim that matching Amazon and Best Buy prices suggest a 'coordinated markdown' likely to last longer (retailers usually just price-match, and the source says nothing on duration), and fix the 'steepest discount yet on any 16-inch MacBook Pro model' line, since MacRumors only calls it the biggest discount yet on this one model; also trim speculation such as the holiday-drop guess and the 'smaller discounts elsewhere' line, which the source doesn't back up.","resolved
"editor-r2",2,"Remove the 'October 19' date, which the source never gives, and the claim that discounted Mac mini and Mac Studio models are 'a second route to the same tier of silicon', since the source doesn't say which chips those desktops use; also tighten the vague 'higher-end Max tier' line and keep the rest to what MacRumors supports.","deals",[36,37,34,38],"apple","macbook-pro","m5-max",[40
MacRumors","https://www.macrumors.com/2026/10/19/900-off-2026-macbook-pro/",0
46,51,56,61,65,70,75,80,85,90,95,100,105,110
"AI","ai",7040,"2026-10-18T11:00:00.000Z
"Security","security",1011,"2026-10-19T17:00:00.000Z
"Policy","policy",542,"2026-10-19T07:43:19.000Z
"Deals",531,"2026-10-19T17:21:45.000Z
"Hardware","hardware",268,"2026-10-19T15:49:37.000Z
"Consumer Tech","consumer-tech",242,"2026-10-19T18:10:55.000Z
"Science","science",205,"2026-10-19T10:00:00.000Z
"Startups","startups",134,"2026-10-18T12:02:57.000Z
"Software","software",130,"2026-10-19T17:26:40.000Z
"Dev Tools","dev-tools",118,"2026-10-16T15:52:39.000Z
"General","general",86,"2026-10-19T15:44:20.000Z
"Gaming","gaming",78,"2026-10-19T12:01:04.000Z
"Reviews","reviews",37,"2026-10-14T10:00:00.000Z
"How-To","how-to",8,"2026-10-05T09:00:00.000Z"]
