On June 12, 2026 Apple released iOS 18.1 beta 2 and watchOS 11.0 beta 2, both of which include the long‑awaited EQ feature for AirPods and AirPods Pro. The update appears through the standard beta enrollment process and works on any paired device running those beta versions. TechRadar notes that the feature is still in a testing phase and has not been rolled out to the public stable releases.
If the EQ works, users can fine‑tune bass, mids and treble directly from Control Center. However, beta software is prone to crashes, and early reports mention audio dropouts and occasional device disconnects. For most owners, the risk of instability outweighs the benefit of a few sound tweaks.
Until Apple ships the feature in an official iOS or watchOS release, the safest path is to stick with the stable OS versions and wait for broader testing.
