The program director blames a failed backup system, so the edit can't be restored and the team must recut the season from raw footage, which was not deleted. TV4, which commissioned the show, investigated and attributed the mishap to \"the human factor\" and not AI. Its program director had also said it wasn't clear what happened.\n\nThe AI-or-human argument may be the less useful question. Nobody has said what the agent's role on the server was, and TV4 has kept its investigation private. What is clear is that the backup failed, which is worse than the deletion itself. Redundancy like RAID protects against dead drives, not against someone, or something, deleting the files. Snapshots, version histories or forensic recovery might still bring data back, but without details from TV4, it's hard to say if any of that is realistic.\n\nAI agents have been reported deleting things they shouldn't before: an AI coding platform's entire database, a user's whole hard drive via Google's Antigravity, a developer's production setup via Claude.
