ABC has taken the FCC to court to block what it calls an early, targeted review of its broadcast licenses.
The network filed suit against the Federal Communications Commission, asking a court to stop the agency from reviewing its television licenses ahead of schedule. ABC's filing accuses the Trump Administration of waging what it calls "a retaliatory campaign" against the network. According to ABC, the review isn't a routine check, it's punishment for content the administration doesn't like.
Our take: broadcasters rarely sue their own regulator, so this filing signals ABC believes ordinary appeals inside the agency won't work. It also raises a bigger question worth watching, whether license reviews can be used as leverage over what networks choose to air, a concern that outlasts any single administration.
For now it's an accusation on paper, not something either side has proven in court.
