Attackers can quietly add or remove connections in that network to manipulate a model's output, a technique known as a structural attack. KCES scores each connection using a metric called Graph Kernel Complexity, then strips out the ones with unusually high scores, since those are the connections most often linked to tampering. The whole process runs as a preprocessing step, with no retraining and no attack-specific tuning required.\n\nThat last part is the real pitch. Most existing defenses either need expensive adversarial retraining or are tailored to one type of attack, meaning they can miss anything unfamiliar.
