The 13-inch iPad Air with Apple's M4 chip is $180 cheaper than usual, at least for the next two days.
Woot dropped the 256GB, wifi-plus-cellular version of the 13-inch iPad Air to $1,019, down from Apple's $1,199.99 list price and $80 less than the same configuration on Amazon, which currently sells it for $1,099. The sale runs for two days or until stock runs out, with free shipping for Prime members and a $6 fee for everyone else. This is the M4-equipped Air with 12GB of memory, Apple's new N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and, on cellular models, the C1X modem borrowed from the iPhone Air, which Apple says cuts power draw by 30%.
The connectivity upgrade is the real story, not the chip. Wi-Fi 7 and a more efficient 5G modem make this the first Air that can plausibly handle a full day of tethered work away from an outlet, not just spreadsheets and video calls. That widens the gap with the base iPad and chips away at one of the Pro's remaining advantages, ProMotion aside.
It still runs a plain 60Hz display and carries no water resistance rating, so this is a work tablet on sale, not a pool toy.
